Wow, this last month has absolutely flown by! It’s been a bit cooler too — much better for the cats, mind you 😺
🎉 Show Brags!
First up — our star, Merry Purr Showboat (aka Theo the Thug 😹), made a rare appearance at the Tabby Cat Club. I only do a handful of shows each year, but he did brilliantly, bagging his second Grand Premier and Best of Breed!
…However 😬 he completely trashed his pen. Honestly, he’s such a clumsy plodder — stomped over everything in sight. We call him Theo the Thug because, well, he just plods his way through life like a little wrecking ball. See photo for evidence 📸 I had to do a quick tidy-up before anyone noticed 🙄😂

😳 This Month’s Misremembers
Plod-hopper Theo strikes again — this time he broke my favourite cat mug. Result: Theo – 1, Me – no cuppa ☕🙄
😬 How Not to Behave at a Cat Show…
Unfortunately, Quincunx Jaguar had to leave early due to some very grumpy behaviour at our own show 😳 He was even advised to be removed!
Oh, Jags. You naughty boy. But we still love you 💕 And being the lovely owner Sandra is, she’s decided not to show him again. Some cats just don’t enjoy it — and that’s okay. I’ve got three at home who don’t like showing either. And guess what? They’re living their best lives 😌 Just look at him 🥰
🐱 Cats with Allergies
I promised I’d talk a bit about this — and I will! But it’s quite a big topic, so I’ll spread it over the next few months to keep it manageable.
For now, here’s a starting point:
If your cat has an unexplained rash, keeps licking, or has spots, always start with the vet. The first question they’ll ask is: “Have you flea-treated them?” You’d be surprised how many cats are allergic to flea bites!
If that’s ruled out, your vet might recommend a food elimination test. It’s not the easiest process and takes time, but it’s really important. Start with one single-source food only — just chicken, just fish, etc. Reactions can take a couple of weeks to show, so be patient and monitor closely.
I’m not a vet, but I’m happy to share my own journey and experiences. It’s not as overwhelming as it sounds, and you will get there — I promise ❤️ I’ll keep adding bits each month.
