A month in the life of having those curly cats. >••<

Phew! It’s been hot hot hot as we roll out of June – a real scorcher here in the Midlands. Always make sure your cats have access to fresh water. You can add ice cubes, although mine are highly suspicious of such things. Typical.

Try to keep them cool if they’ll allow it (not guaranteed!). A fan blowing gentle air can help, or a cold, damp tea towel draped over them if you’re worried. I sometimes freeze Lick-e-Lix – pop a stick in them like an ice lolly. Of course, mine waited until they’d melted before they’d go near them. Contrarian cats, honestly.

Cool mats are quite affordable these days too – worth a go. Just do your best and keep an eye on them.

Keyboard Crimes and Show Wins

I hear that Kaz Winn’s Selkirk Rex, Tiger, was caught tampering with the keyboard after his vet boosters. I suspect he may have been trying to order a cheeky delivery of cat crack! We’ll never know what that mischievous upstart was plotting. 20/10 for effort though 😂 His excuse? “Just treating all the other pets…” Hmm. Sure, Tiger. 😳

On a more respectable note, Jane Cox and her two LaPerms, Milo and Mona, had a fantastic day at the Merseyside / LaPerm shows.

Lulu (aka Mona) was awarded Best in Show Kitten.
Milo took Best Neuter and Overall Best in Show.

To top it off, Mona is the first ever Kitten Champion LaPerm at a breed club show! Huge congratulations – that’s something special.

Bathing Battles

Let’s talk about baths. If you know, you know.

Bathing a cat can be like a tsunami in the bathroom. But I’ve found a solution that helps – bathing gloves I ordered online. Just pop them on and rub over the cat’s coat. It freshens them up a treat, no water involved! Game-changer.

If you have tips or disasters to share, do let me know. I’ve had my fair share of chaotic, soaking wet chases around the bedroom. Not fun for anyone. It’s stressful, and we don’t want that for us or our curly companions.

If your cat suffers from allergies, next month’s blog is for you. I’ll be covering my experience with a cat who has multiple allergies – to both food and environmental triggers. I can offer advice based on what I’ve learned, but please always consult a vet for proper guidance.

Life at the Bilston Mafia

It’s been relatively quiet this month with my crew of six Devons and one BSH.

Food box break-ins: One.
Broken ornaments: One (not bad!).
Stolen items turning up in odd places: A bag of silver metal corner ends found behind the TV (which lives in the kitchen).

Food theft is standard behaviour. I once found my Sunday joint at the bottom of the stairs. Honestly. Opportunistic little bandits.
